We've got a puzzle for you — literally.
The Lindsay Downtown BIA and Tradewind Toys & Gifts are teaming up to turn one local artist's work into an official limited-edition Ravensburger puzzle, sold right here on Kent Street.
We're looking for original artwork inspired by Downtown Lindsay — the streets, the shops, the people, the feeling of this place. The winning piece will be professionally printed on a 500-piece Ravensburger puzzle, and the artist will receive a fantastic prize pack and well-deserved recognition.
Key Dates
- Submissions open: July 15th, 2025
- Submission deadline: August 12th at 11:59 pm online, or by 5:00pm in person at Tradewind Toys
- Winner announced: August 18–19
Who Can Enter
- Open to all residents of the City of Kawartha Lakes
- All ages welcome
- One submission per person
What We're Looking For
Your artwork should be inspired by or depicting Downtown Lindsay — think streetscapes, landmarks, storefronts, community life, seasonal scenes, or anything that captures the spirit of this place. All mediums are welcome: painting, drawing, illustration, photography, and human-made digital art.
No AI-generated content. Submissions found to be created in whole or in part using AI image-generation tools will be disqualified.
File Requirements
- Format: .jpg, .jpeg, or .png
- File size: 50MB maximum
- Recommended minimum: 3,500px on the longest side
- Colour space: RGB
- Orientation: Landscape (the finished puzzle measures 67.63 × 48.90 cm)
- Physical artwork should be scanned or photographed at a minimum of 300 DPI before uploading
- Artwork with rich detail and visual variety makes for the best puzzle — large blank or empty areas are not ideal for the puzzle format
- If your artwork is portrait or square in orientation, it may be cropped to fit the landscape puzzle format
Judging
Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of five judges representing the arts community, local government, and the contest partners. Entries will be evaluated on:
- Connection to Downtown Lindsay
- Artistic quality and originality
- Visual suitability for puzzle format (detail, contrast, composition)
- Wow factor — would someone want to own and build this puzzle?
The Prize
The winning artist will receive:
- A $500 gift certificate and downtown prize bundle
- A complimentary copy of the finished puzzle featuring their artwork
- Feature coverage on LDBIA and Tradewind Toys social media
